If America's a meritocracy, indicating your race on a job application's diversity question shouldn't matter, right? Except that when Yolanda Spivey, who had been job hunting for weeks, changed her name and changed her racial identity from black to white, the interview offers poured in. Everything else was the same on her resume and applications. Talk about an A-B test for how racism impacts employment.
