Thank you, Alessandra. You are such an incredible writer. Hopefully soon America will treat its artists and teachers with the respect they deserve!

I appreciate you saying that. I sometimes go back and forth and wonder if it's selfish to want better benefits for freelancers considering it's a lifestyle-- but I also think people choose that lifestyle for sanity- it's a mental health issue. I could go on, but I think you'd appreciate the work of the Freelancer's Union. Have you ever done a video on them? This was their recent post: https://www.freelancersunion.org/blog/2014/04/03/moving-consumption-connection/

It's not selfish to hope for universal health care! In every other industrialized nation, health care is seen as a basic, fundamental human right, guaranteed to all citizens. So we're way behind as a nation. Thanks for sharing that post. We'd definitely like to work more with all sorts of unions on this issue.

Incredible video and article, Julie. With all my health issues, this is why I haven't taken the leap to be an artist- and I find that unfortunate. I think I'm resilient- but there is a part of me that wants to be practical for my health. Your work is so important for raising these issues.
