Invisible bike helmet

Rachel Dearborn

All around the world, people are riding their bicycles without helmets.

For those whose reason for skirting safety is vanity (who wants to smush their updo?) and who also happen to have $600 US in their pockets to spare, this innovation from a pair of Swedish inventors may just be the key.

Plus, it's pretty darn cool.

This is fantastic. As soon as it is a fashionable scarf that morphs into a head-protecting jelly donut upon impact I will be riding my bike with my eyes closed.

I hope it gets cheaper. It's such a cool idea—not just because of style, but also because helmets are a pain to carry around once you're off your bike, and uncomfortable to wear (especially in the summertime, if you live somewhere hot and humid).

I wasn't sure if this was a spoof at first. I guess i still want more back story, but this reveal of an airbag for your head is amazing.

Airbags are not reusable, though. Does this "helmet" have more than one life once it's been deployed? I'm curious - so many questions. A pro to this, however, is that helmets tend to wear out over time. This might have a longer lifespan than our typical hardhats.

Nope, not a spoof. Just an awesome video that I thought a good candidate for testing out your new people-powered submission system.

I, for one, am gonna stick with wearing my fairly traditional helmet on my daily bike commute.

Yeah definitely an awesome video. I'd say you used the new people-powered submission perfectly. This is a great find. Thanks for jumping in and giving it a whirl.
