Preach it, sister. As Mark Twain said, "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness" and we believe there is no better time to broaden your perspectives than while still in school. For ideas on how to fundraise for your own study abroad trip - we put together a free handbook. You can download it at http://www.actualitymedia.org/funding/ebook/

I am currently studying abroad in Paris. It's a way for me to further my knowledge of the language and culture. Already, I feel like it has put life into a global perspective.

Your best best might be to share an apartment. Some sites are colocation.fr or apartager.com. I also have a friend who lives at Cité Université, and while she doesn't have any major complaints, it is a little out of the way. Bonne chance et bon séjour!

I studied documentary storytelling in County Donegal, Ireland this past summer. It changed my life. What an incredible experience.

Here's the documentary three other students and I made during our six week stay there, if you're interested: http://vimeo.com/46872199

I studied abroad in London during college and loved every minute of it. I made amazing friends and got to experience Europe in a really neat way. In addition to taking classes, I interned at a media company. My internship allowed me to emerse myself deeper into British life, get to know locals, and get a peek into British media.

I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain. I don't think I would have truly been able to learn Spanish otherwise. However, I wish I would have gone to a developing nation. There are so many American students in major European cities-- it's hard to vere away from the pack.

Studying abroad in Wales impacted my life in a huge way in college, but it also left me with a lot more debt than I would have accrued had I stayed at home. It would be great if the government had a special subsidy program for students from lower income families to study abroad.
