Pgfs 5-10 were good. I don't really see us having much of a "planetary consciousness", though. What's interesting, and powerful, about consciousness is that it's aware of itself. The billions of brain cells are firing, and thousands of thoughts are formed, but only one voice is heard in one's consciousness. Similarly, while many of us are aware of global warming, we're not yet aware of our agreement, or concern. We don't yet have a way to speak so that one voice emerges.
This is the possibility of PeopleCount.org, billions of people communicating coherently, constructively, and hearing ourselves, designing our future. We're starting out simply, and all too slowly. This, or something like it, will make the difference.
