This article is completely missing the point. Federal taxes pay for the federal department of education and the programs it funds. Education in incredibly important and everyone should have access to educational materials. The problem is that the federal government is not capable of providing top level service in this area. The process by which decisions are made does not create innovative solutions. This country ranks poorly in comparison with the rest of the world. The US education system is still mainly geared for creating obedient workers rather than innovative, independent thinkers. When people complain about high taxes it's because the government has shown itself to be inept at creating solutions. That money usually would have been better spent elsewhere.
