In partnership with the state government, organizations such as Sewa are training women for masonry work in the Dahod district of India. Sewa has trained 400 women in construction and masonry through its three-month classroom and on-the-job training. Ambuja Cement Foundation has trained 314 women in the last five years. “I never thought of working as main mason earlier. However, after the training I am not only able to work efficiently but my daily income has doubled,” said 24-year-old Savita.
