Why You Might Not Want to Google That Rash

Anyone who's used WebMD to convince themselves that they have a rare new form of the plague knows the dangers of self-diagnosis, but it turns out there's another reason you might not want to research your symptoms online: privacy. At least seven big health sites share search data with third-party trackers. In theory, if the data got in the wrong hands, someone could fairly easily figure out who was searching for what symptoms, despite federal health privacy laws.
