I would like to raise the issue that a proportion of the 56% of women leaving their technology careers may be doing so as a result of caring for a frail, ill or disabled family member, friend or partner. The Carers UK, DWP and Ipsos MORI report (December 2009), One million give up work to care - Carers Rights Day found that 1 in 6 carers give up work to care.

Interesting series. I teach freshman English in college and I always get female students who write about this issue. They are usually frustrated, but hopeful about the female demographics in STEM fields. Thanks for sharing the info/links.
