Why Free Parking is Killing Our Cities and a New Idea to Fix It

Matthew Yglesias unpacks here the layers of subsidy that urbanites take for granted when they park their cars. Much of it you've likely heard. His proposal for rethinking the subsidies that essentially set aside one third of the square footage of many major cities for storage of automobiles though is interesting: moving to a new city or just a new place crosstown? You'd have to 'purchase' the parking privileges from an existing resident.
