When An 80 Year Old Volunteer Was Asked Why He Did It...

A volunteer worker at the historic Little White Church in Elbe since the early ’90s, Bob Martin was asked last week if there are rewards to the job.

The story he told still moves him to tears:

“One day I was here and a couple from Germany stopped by and I opened the church for them,” he said. “We still have the church’s original pipe organ, and I always ask if anyone plays. This man said he did, and he began playing hymns.”
