Wedu Invests in the Future of Young Asian Women

Last year, Mari Sawai and Mario Ferro founded Wedu, a Bangkok-based program to help women in Southeast Asia gain access to higher education through microfinancing, mentorship and counseling. Wedu's rigorous screening process looks for candidates who have sufficient academic ability to go to university but lack financial resources. “We are supporting students for their leadership potential, besides their grades,” Ferro said. So far, Wedu has raised $130,000, providing backing for five students.
