We've Come a Long Way for This? Billie Jean King Shouldn't Have to Defend Anything

An EPSN report is now casting doubt on Billie Jean King's victory over mens' tennis star Bobby Riggs in 1973's "Battle of the Sexes" tennis match, with reports saying Riggs threw the exhibition to pay for gambling debts. Sure, it's great TV movie fodder, but it's horrible to think that King—a legend for her true accomplishments on the court—has to defend herself for anything. And to have felt pressure to participate in a showdown in the first place? Is it really worth discussing?
