"Turn Soon-To-Be-Demolished-Bridge Into a Park Instead," Proposes Awesome Vice Mayor

Long Beach, CA's Shoemaker Bridge is set to be demolished and replaced in service of a highway-widening project—unless Vice Mayor Robert Garcia has anything to say about it. Garcia is urging the city to reconsider its decision and turn the space into a park instead, à la New York's High Line Park, a one-mile-long park built on a section of the former New York Central Railroad. The City Council plans to take on Garcia's resolution regarding the project on Tuesday.
