This Bowl Warns You Before Fruit Gets Moldy

London-based design student Jagjit Chodha created a solution to help cut back on some of the million of tonnes of food waste in the UK each year. His fruit bowl was designed with a sensor that can detect ethylene, the chemical given off as fruit ripens. When a peach or plum is perfectly ripe but in danger of going bad, the bowl lights up as a reminder to eat the food. Mold may be a thing of the past.
