The Road Never Traveled: Mars Rover to Embark on First Long-Distance Journey

It's been a fairly successful run for NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover,which landed last summer, but now it's time to hit the road. After spending the last 6 months boring into Martian rock, the rover is preparing to leave the "Glenelg" survey area (roughly the size of a football field) for the base of Mount Sharp some 5 miles away. It's the first long-distance journey for the mission and "the biggest turning point since landing the rover."
