If you don't reward people for failing, Astro Teller of Google X tells the BBC, "they won't take risks and make breakthroughs." He says, "if you don't reward failure, people will hang on to a doomed idea for fear of the consequences." The lab is a hub where inventors and engineers seek big solutions. And "if you shame them when they come back, if you tell them that they've failed you because they didn't find a mountain," says Teller, they "will quit your company." (or any endeavor, really.)
