The New Frontier of Food Packaging: Edible Wrappers

Thanks to Harvard biomedical engineer David Edwards, edible wrapping is no longer limited to the beloved Chinese rice paper candies (of my youth, at least). Called Wikipearl, the wrapping is held together by calcium ions and can include particles of chocolate, nuts and seeds. It's supposed to enhance the food you're eating and early options include mango ice cream with a coconut wrapper, oatmeal bites, and natural yogurt with strawberry wrapping.
