The Largest Civil Rights Settlement in United States History, Just Went to 18,000 Black Farmers.

The Pigford I and II class action lawsuits, which "attempted to address a history of discrimination by the Department of Agriculture," have been settled to the tune of $1.2 billion. Now 18,000 black farmers who sued the USDA over racial discrimination "will each receive $50,000 plus an additional $12,500 for debt associated with federal taxes."
