Thank the Otters for the Return of Seagrass

Seagrass is making a comeback! The underwater flowering plant, which aids in ecosystem and climate protection, is returning to the coast after it was declared on the projectile for extinction along California's shores. Researchers found that the re-population of sea otters has caused a chain reaction: the otters eat the crabs, which prey on the small invertebrate responsible for destroying seagrass. Less predators means that more seagrass can grow and flourish, helping combat climate change.
