Texas Is Getting Rid of Algebra II Because Businesses Say Students Don't Need it

Although Texas set the trend of requiring algebra II for graduation, the state is expected to drop it next week. The change is due to pressure from "Jobs for Texas, a coalition of 22 industry trade groups" that wants schools to focus on vocational training for jobs that don't require a degree. However, algebra II is still required for "honors diplomas, which can ensure automatic admission to Texas public universities." What happens when those jobs that don't require a degree disappear?
