Students Take On Plastic Bags (S.T.O.P.) in NYC

It's rare when schools invite seasoned environmental activists, advocates and City Council members to coach middle and high school students on how to influence lawmakers to vote for a an issue chosen by the students themselves, but the Hewitt School in NYC is doing just that. After the event, students will testify at the eventual City Council hearing in which NYC's plastic bag ordinance will be voted on. This and other Green Schools Alliance initiatives show real action-based leadership.
