    Interesting - these stats definitely reflect how attached everyone was to their internet-connected smartphones when I lived there. However, even though South Africa is relatively progressive these days, the internet use rate probably also sheds light on the fact that more people have access to the internet via a smartphone than access to some basic amenities in many parts of the world, especially Africa.
