More than 1.3 billion people around the world live without electricity. In Nepal, kerosene often serves as an energy substitute. Unfortunately, kerosene is expensive, harmful to the environment and dangerous to the women who are often responsible for using the lamps. Empower Generation gives women in the developing world small loans so they can sell solar LED lights called WakaWaka lights. Empower Generation hopes to take the business model to more developing nations in the future.
