Meet Sofia: Disney’s First Ethnically Ambiguous Princess

At first Disney said they created their new fictional princess Sofia as Latina, but now the company insists she is a “mixed-heritage princess,” with a father from a kingdom “inspired by Scandinavia” and a mother from a land “inspired by Spain,” who lives in a “melting-pot kingdom.” Regardless, the move may set a new precedent that is more in line with our own increasingly blended planet.
