School in Afghanistan Gives Girls Hope for a Better Future

In an effort to empower Afghan girls, Razia Jan in 2008 founded the Zabuli Education Center, which offers free education to 400 girls in the Dah Yaya village. In a country notorious for restricting women’s rights, the school aims to support girls who do not want to get married early. “It’s my own decision who I will marry, and I won’t allow my parents to force me. It’s every girl’s right,” says ninth grader Rahila Rohullah.
