Protesters flooded Istanbul's Taksim Square Friday after heavy-handed police tactics and increasing dissatisfaction with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who some say is becoming increasingly authoritarian. The mainstream media has yet to highlight the protests. Meanwhile, police brutality continues as over 900 people have been arrested and several have been killed.     I am glad these powerful images got out. My friend is teaching in Ankara and apparently social media was/is being blocked. If you have family/ friends in Turkey, they can use Tor to get around the blocks. I haven't tried it myself, but you can use Tor Project and configure your exit nodes so you're not exiting the network from within Turkey.

      Yeah, I have a few friends that were able to get around the block and post a bit of what's happening on Facebook. I've never heard of Tor, but good to know.
