Revered Fashion Designer Confronts Racism and Body Image in Stunning Runway Show

In a fashion industry game changer, designer Rick Owens enlivened a packed house in Paris yesterday presenting his new collection on models that were far from the size 0 white women traditionally seen on runways. Members of two step dance groups "walked" the runway energetically stomping their feet, most of them black, and full figured women. It was a celebration of racial and body diversity seldom—if ever—seen during fashion week. Hopefully Owens will inspire others in this direction.
