PHOTOS: Volunteers Guide Endangered Turtle Hatchlings to the Sea

Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire, a non-governmental research group based on the small Caribbean island of Bonaire, recently formed a protective wall for 112 loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings as they broke out of their shells and made their crawl to the sea. Listed as an endangered species, the baby loggerheads were being shielded from nearby airport traffic lights, which disorient hatchlings during their perilous journey -- they are drawn to strong light sources, like the shimmer of the sea.
