People are Awesome: 6th-Grader Helps Save a Canadian Forest

When a 12-year-old in British Columbia noticed trees marked with orange paint in a forest near her home—and learned that they were going to be chopped down for a new development—she wrote to her mayor, published the letter in the local paper, and eventually convinced town leaders to change their plans, scaling back the development and saving most of the trees.
