Peaceful Turkish Protesters Face Off With Police To Save Istanbul's Last Significant Green Space

When Turkish protesters flooded Taksim Square in an effort to save the park from being turned into a shopping mall, police met them with water cannons and tear gas canisters. Taksim Square is Istanbul's last significant green space in a concrete jungle of malls and luxury hotels. People are pissed and they're willing to go toe-to-toe with Turkish officers, who are notorious for their indiscriminate use of tear gas against peaceful protesters, to save the sycamore trees that line the square.
