Our Recycling Go To China and They're Now Over It

“The public doesn’t realize this, but recycling is made possible by technology and markets." We tend to think that once we throw our recyclables into the bin we are good to go with our wonderful plastics going into reproduction for new goods we buy. Little do we know what actually happens: we pay China to take our plastics to do the dirty work for us. And now they're tired of it, which is bad news for the US: “They have made commitments saying it’s recycled—but they didn’t say how or where."
