They do it in a number of major U.S. cities and today they did it here in Salt Lake. It was the first ever Open Streets event which shutdown busy 3rd South downtown for most of the day.
Cars were not allowed. Instead, people were dancing in the streets, rollerblading, biking, doing yoga and so much more. Organizers say they hoped it would give people a sense of ownership in their city and encourage them to get out of their cars on a Saturday morning and get moving.
