One writer's search for the substance of 'peace'

In December 2012, Aeon Magazine published an essay by anthropologist and writer, Margaret Paxson, on her search for the substance of peace. As she states, violence occurs and is seemingly more easily quantified - it "takes shape" through gun shots, killings and invasions. Paxson hopes to find something more than the absence of violence or the aftermath of conflict.
