Nature Knows Best: Why Advances in Agriculture Make our Food Less Nutritious

We all know that fruits and vegetables are good for us. You might even know about phytonutrients, compounds known to help prevent cancer and other deadly diseases. But studies are now showing that advances in agriculture to make our fruits and veggies taste better have stripped them of valuable nutrients. What we get in the supermarket is not as good as what's foraged in the wild—by a long shot. So nature truly does know best here....

    I'm happy to see this article on GOOD. I read it over the weekend, had a minor freak out moment, and thought about sourcing heirloom seeds to starting my own garden. The real question is how to reverse the damage we've already caused on a large scale?
