Much Ado About 125th Street: Harlem Teen Wins National Shakespeare Contest

Two years ago Harlem's Xavier Pacheco thought, as many teens do, that Shakespeare was boring. But thanks to an after school arts program, the 16-year-old has become "the first New Yorker to win the nation’s largest competition for teen Bard fanatics—the English-Speaking Union National Shakespeare Competition." Pacheco mastered "Much Ado About Nothing," beating 15,000 other teens for the top spot, and winning a trip to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’s Young Actors Summer School in London.
