Hakima is a 13-year-old girl who lives with her parents and 10 brothers and sisters in Uganda and aspires to be a doctor. Typically, "[i]f there's a family where there are boys and girls, and there is just some small money, they usually send boys to school. Girls will get married," says Hakima. Her family is different -- they all attend school. Determined to empower other girls, she chairs several projects promoting girls' rights, including an anti-violence and child-protection club.
