Leah - Love the name:) Thank you for this insightful commentary. More people need to realize how powerful we our as consumers and social change is possible if start spending more with ethical companies. In a way it doesn't necessarily matter who gets elected next month, what matters is that Americans who give a damn say enough is enough and start harnessing their spending power. Capitalism can work for us and foster positive social change if we as consumers realize our power. Consumer spending adds up to 70% of the whole economy in the US, dwarfing the government and corporations. Given the opportunity I would bet conscious consumers would elect to buy, support and help grow companies that give back to solving major problems. We just need more of the businesses, like the ones you've listed above, on a much bigger scale. Now I'm going to find my bar of Liberation Chocolate!
