Just in Time For Banned Books Week, North Carolina School District Bans Ralph Ellison's 'Invisible Man'

After a parent complaint about inappropriate language and themes, the Randolph County, N.C. school board's removing Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man" from district libraries. School board member Gary Mason said he "didn't find any literary value" in the book, which won the National Book Award for Fiction in 1953 and is widely regarded as a classic exploration of the impact of race, social issues, and intellectualism on black Americans.
