Is Photography an Art form?


A photograph captures a moment in time in its actuality, whereas something like a painting or drawing, however accurate is essentially a rendering of whatever the artist chooses to see.

But can photography itself ever be described as an art form? And more importantly, what is art?

    I think photography is an art form, most definitely. Even though technical skills are not always needed with digital photography these days, a true photographer needs to know how to compose an image.

      @Alessandra, photography is an art to me as well - it takes an artist to "feel" a photograph and capture it well.
