Innovations in Drug Effectiveness Against Disease Slowing Dramatically

Bad news on the pharmaceutical front. Despite tens of billions of dollars in R&D investment and decades of work, the effectiveness of drugs against disease has not markedly improved since the 1970s, according to new research.

Scientists have already tackled the "low-hanging fruit" of disease treatment, which may be a factor in the slowing curve of innovation.
