The horrifying gang rape of a young woman in Delhi has led to sustained nationwide protests by a broad coalition of students, professionals, women and men demanding justice for the victim and for women subject to violence throughout the country. Suneeta Dhar, director of a Delhi NGO, says, "Women's groups have been pushing for an end to violence against women for a long time. This is the first time that so many people have connected to the issue."
