Illiterate Women Get Skills to Take on the World

Gender Resources Centers (GRC) in New Delhi, India, are providing educational services to women in the poorest segments of society. “These women were not even able to read bus numbers and had to request others to operate their bank accounts and write their applications," said a GRC member. "After education, there’s a sea change in their attitude.” Government records show that over 12,000 women benefit from these services across Delhi yearly, learning mathematics and basic computer skills.
