Idaho Startup Wants to Pave Roads With Glass Solar Panels


An Idaho couple has developed a modular paving system of solar panels that can be installed on roads, parking lots, and driveways, and generate electricity to power homes and businesses connected via driveways and parking lots. Solar Roadways envisions a nationwide system that could produce more clean renewable energy than a country uses as a whole.

    Sounds like a great idea to me. Roadways and parking lots are such an incredible waste of space, it is nice to explore ideas to make them provide additional functionality and create financial gain. It also seems like a modulized approach to construction and maintenance could be quite a benefit by reducing waste and perhaps making repairs quicker.
