How Volunteering at a Cat Shelter Helped a Woman Become Less Selfish and More Mindful

After becoming sober, Angela Lutz started volunteering at a local cat shelter. She created a pattern of socializing with pets that helped her become more mindful. Although the loss of one shelter cat deterred her from coming back, she realized she was being selfish and that she could make a bigger impact if she worked with more shelter pets.
