    Several cities are starting to roll out curbside food waste pickup (e.g. SF, Seattle). In places without municipal services, many small businesses are cropping up to provide household pickup:

    The benefits of services like these are that you can compost a lot of materials normally discouraged at home (including this article), such as meats, bones, dairy, and even pizza boxes. Some services, like CompostNow, even return the soil back to you (or send it to a community garden) to complete the urban food cycle.
