How Dogs Are Serving Cats In Unexpected Ways

When pets get sick and need blood transfusions, where does the blood come from? It turns out that dogs have an ability to donate blood to cats. According to a story in The Gainesville Sun, at the University of Florida’s small animal hospital in Gainesville, 58 dogs donate a pint of blood six times a year. Just like humans, dogs have to meet certain requirements to be able to donate:
1) Is at least one year old and no older than eight or nine years
2) Weighs at least 50 pounds
3) Can sit still
