We've seen similar struggles amongst the people of the Tohoku area who are still recovering from the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. GlobalGiving donors have been funding grassroots civil-society organizations who are working to equip young leaders (and to encourage other young leaders to move back to their home areas) - but there is still a great need in many areas where people are still displaced. We are fortunate in America to have a strong civil society that steps in to fill the gaps.
