    Hi Sarah,
    Really enjoyed your article. Just chanced upon this, was not even searching for crowd sourcing (quite new to Good). I agree with you the functional benefits are great and that it truly gives you a sense of customer needs in real time. It also introduces the dynamics see offline shopping interaction to the online space: beneficial for the customer and supplier alike. We have launched a community platform for Group Gifting, VenTribe.com (with a lot of the same dynamics). would love to hear what you think.

      Hi Rupert - Apologies for the delayed response! VenTribe looks really cool, and I can't help but think wedding gifts would be a good application, as people often want presents that are expensive and so pooling resources would be of value. I resist sites that force me to sign up to browse / check out the user experience, so that would be my only bit of constructive criticism:) Good luck, and I'll keep my eye out for news stories about you guys!

    Speaking from experience, I think this disruption is already in effect. I work for a B2B publication/research agency in the natural products industry & we're starting to look at crowdfunding wins for trendspotting. Natural products is a very entrepreneurial industry & one that breeds a lot of consumer brand loyalty, so it's an easy fit for crowdfunding.

      That's awesome to hear Connor! Love that you guys are using it for trendspotting. I've seen some campaigns mentioned by Cool Hunting and Trend Central, and imagine a "best of" category will start showing up in syndicated trend reports too. Like any growth sector, I imagine there's also likely going to be sites totally dedicated to aggregation and rating of campaigns across platform. I keep meaning to go buy some domain names that would fit this offering! :)
