After looking through 1,000 designs from around the world, judges for the 2013 INDEX:Award chose five winners with ideas to improve society—a smart highway that can generate energy, paper that can prevent food waste, a climate adaptation plan for Copenhagen, Raspberry Pi's low-cost computer that teaches kids programming, and a set of tools to help saves lives during childbirth.

    Cool, I especially like Raspberry Pi. I'm a visual learner, and seeing the functionality of the computer helps immensely when putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
